They say it can’t be done…
Why do people climb mountains? – Because they are there.
5 Ultra distance races in 5 months, can it be done? There is only one way to find out!
Last year I failed to do two ultra-marathons in two months, and had to pull out of the second race after 50km. This year I have something to prove, and I am back with a vengeance! Madness? Of course it is! But rules are there to be broken, and I have set out to break the rules. Life is more fun like that, don’t you think?
Nelson Mandela said “it always seems impossible until its done”. That is what I have set out to prove, that what seems impossible today, can be a part of history tomorrow.

Just doing it! No fear.
“Those who say it cannot be done should get out of the way of those doing it”
- Chinese proverb
When I signed up to do the Namibian ultra marathon last year I had never run a marathon. I still have not run a marathon. For me it is about exploring what is possible, and try to go beyond what is seen as conventional limits. Maybe I have bitten off more than I can chew this year?
The truth is I actually don’t know. Keep following the site to see my updates over the year.
My friends know me to be up for most challenges, but this year I think I may have surpassed even myself!

So who am I doing this for? People ask me. The first answer to that question, is for me. I have set myself what at first glance seems like an impossible task; and I am doing it to prove to myself that it can be done.
However, in doing so, can more be achieved? Last year I raised money for an African charity. This year I am choosing a charity closer to home. Many of us have been in immediate contact of people touched by cancer. My efforts this year will be to raise money to Cancer Research UK.
Join me in joining thousands of people across the globe. Obama has done it, Lance Armstrong has done it for years, please join me and support Cancer Research UK by clicking through to the charity pages on Justgiving.com.
